Flooding in Townsville region North Queensland, Australia

Euro-Center Sydney would like to share the following information regarding the catastrophic flooding from monsoonal rains that is currently taking place in Townsville, North Queensland and may concern and/or affect your policyholders / members.

Emergency alerts have been issued, as the Townsville region has received record rainfall during the past seven days; in excess of 1,600 millimeters.

Hundreds of people have been evacuated, the Townsville airport has been closed, the disaster area is stretching approx. 700Km along the east coast from Cairns to Mackay. The army is assisting residents and people affected.

A severe weather warning remains in place for a large stretch of north Queensland for damaging winds and heavy rain.

The Townsville Airport is set to re-open this afternoon, however, travelers are recommended to stay in contact with their transport providers for information on rescheduled travel times in this region.
